BBC reported the Dalai Lama is to address the British Parliament with "evidence" about human rights in Tibet. (See, "Dalai Lama starts tour in London") Some dissidents in China get into trouble precisely for doing this sort of thing.
This move simply will not bolster his case with China as his aides are resuming talks with Beijing.
Time is on China's side - as China becomes even more economically powerful the separatist element within Tibet continues to dwindle. If the Dalai Lama wishes a type of arrangement such as Hong Kong has with China for Tibet, the key audience he needs to win over are the Chinese people.
How could the Chinese people trust him if he goes to foreign countries to present evidence about human rights violations or attend various forums with groups who are separatists?
As things are, maybe the real solution is simply time.

Dalai Lama the theological politician.
What a hyprocrite. we won't forget his crime against human rights and cultural genocide for forcing the Tibetans to convert their religion to Gelug yellow hat sect Buddhism and imprisoning other religious leaders.
He wants a peaceful talk with China yet he is sabotaging.
Europe and America who hate/fear China of course would love to talk to people who want to destroy China.
Time has change. Soon people in China will reject this guy completely.
since this talk is related to dalai lama
it is worth to have a watch:

It is true - the past wrong-doings of the Dalai Lama and his "clique" is something they will have to demonstrate to the Chinese people they truly no longer have the desires for.
Well, can the dalai lama clique promise to seperate religion from politics? Neh, that is exactly what they are doing now.
They can't even show that they can seperate politics from sports.
Publicly, the Dalai Lama supports the Beijing Olympics. Some believe that the more radical elements within his "clique" (like the TYC, TUM, etc) do not listen to him anymore. Or, as what China publicly says, the Dalai Lama is actually in agreement with these radical elements.
We think China is trying to get the Dalai Lama to distance himself from the actions of the TYC and TUM so these factions get even less support around the world.
You guys could consider using
t1b*t and DL as many websites do.
(see http://www.chinalawblog.com/2008/05/blogging_for_china.html for examples)
This ensures that the site won't be immediately blocked in China.
Great suggestion. Hackers invented L33T speak to penetrate all kinds of internet filters.
For example, china can be written as CH1N4, (hI/V4, ( )-(1N4 etc.
We'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestions.
I would love to share an interesting finding here :
http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/12/china-tibet-macbain-oped-cx_lbm_0414tibetchina.html
someone wrote an article on Forbes on "freeing" Tibet and the comments posted are rather interesting.
Looks like there are still many smart Westerners who are against interfering with China's affair to promote independance in Tibet.
Interesting indeed. Not sure if the author truly proposes sidelining the Dalai Lama if what that foundation believes to be a "fair" path and the Dalai Lama refuses to go along.
After the Dalai Lama passes away, the TYC and TUM separatist subgroups are likely to fully assert themselves.
It seems like both scenarios are the same.
I never really read anything Dalai Lama has propogated. After 3.14, I seriously looked their web page and read his appeal on, what he called, his Chinese brothers and sisters in China, that he didn't want the separation and he didn't support people who take the violence. I was thinking, wait moment, Dalai Lama should be a good and honest person who does have some support from some people in some European countries and of cource the US. Then it came a big surprise. In a talk in a Canadian universtiy, he openly and cheerfully said, of course, he will support people who fight against China. Fighting against China is good in his opinion. Oh... God! What a big (slave) master!
I think the leaders in the West "likes" Dalai Lama because he is a "tool" needed to bash China.
He is given a "holy halo" image in the west.
I think it is very easy for anyone to talk "peace" and gain support so we should carefully read about the history of anyone before we support him blindly.
Recently, many people got killed in Tibet. how come he is praising the murderous mobs? It is a shame that now there are high profile Buddhist terrorists around. Even Jet Li, a disciple of Dalai Lama, does not support DL's political movement.
